News from the Program/Publicity committee, Jill Bigler, Chair:
Activities for summer of 2007 are in the early planning stages.
They will include:
A new member reception will take place instead of the Katydid's wine
tasting we had in 2006. Details will be in an upcoming newsletter.
The July 4 parade will feature our property inspectors. Participation
encouraged. Sheelagh Knapp will get in touch with interested parties.
E-mail her at rsknapp@att.net if you'd like to join the fun.
We are taking signups for four interest groups: A reading group, in
which members read books of their choice and share during a group
get together, led by Nancy Burke; Three Nature Walks, led by Moira
(Pat) Wilson; "Lunching around the EUP," led by Jan Williams, and
"Adventures in Eating," a rotating dinner group, chaired by Phyllis
Rusk and Gwen Phillips. If you're interested, contact Jill Bigler at 906-
484-2990 (until mid-October), 678-364-9543 (winter) or e-mail
dbiglerpi@aol.com.
We will be offering a Nature Lecture Series again. Topics TBA, but
we're working again with Jessie Hadley of Woods and Waters Ecotours
on developing the subjects. The place and time will be changed as
soon as new arrangements are made.
Thanks to Mandi Hamberg for the beautiful new banner! It attracted a
lot of attention at the LCIA Boat Show display. Next year we'll try to
expand this display to include photos of member activities.
Stay tuned for info on a special performance of the 2007 summer
musical, directed by Lisa Dunn. She has indicated that the troupe
would be willing to do a benefit performance for LCIA members and
guests prior to the show's opening. Attendees will pay the regular
show admission fee, and the proceeds will benefit the Library. We
hope to have a coffee and dessert reception either prior to the
performance, or during intermission.
We still have decals and logo items for sale, but sales cease after
August 30, so if you want to order something, contact Jill Bigler at the
above e-mail address for further information.
BE SURE TO READ YOUR UPCOMING LCIA NEWSLETTERS, MAILED
QUARTERLY, FOR UPDATES ON THE FOREGOING PROJECTS!
This is the only means we have to communicate with the membership
during the off-season, and we don't want you to miss anything.
